Oxford dictionary defines forgiveness as stopping the feelings of anger or resentment towards a person for an offense, flaw, or mistake. There it is again, that word anger. Forgiveness is about stopping that anger.
As humans, we are going to make mistakes. Some are small and some are huge and can change the direction of our lives in an instant. When we find ourselves in positions that land us in life changes moments what do we do?
For me, as I work through my issues with anger, I know a huge part of the process is learning to let go of things I did in the past. Learning to accept that I didn't know what I didn't know and that sometimes in searching for comfort and happiness I did some not so great things.
We all do not so great things; some of them can be seen by others and some we harbor in secret. To move forward into a happy life it's important to accept all the things we've done; both the good and the bad. No amount of self hate and self destructive behavior is going to change the past. We can't good deed ourselves out of our mistakes either.
We accept and move on. We start looking at how we want to live. The goals we have in front of us and take the steps to get us to that place. Sometimes that means we have to make our world really small. Work on basics, like getting enough sleep, exercising, and eating properly. Perhaps, we spend more time in solitude and finding things that help us smile and see the good in ourselves.
Radically accept what you cannot change. Know what is done is done. Look towards solutions and deal in concrete facts. Those facts that are solid and unchanging not what may happen or potential outcomes. Concentrate on where you are today and the steps to get you where you want to be.
If your angry at yourself, feel it for a moment; don't live there though. Keep going and allow yourself permission to get up and try again. We are all learning and continuing to heal and grow.
Take it one breath at a time if needed and keep your eye towards the thing you want in your life. Find joy in each moment, go forward and have a beautiful day.
Love y'all.
